The Woodland Designs are my longest-loved pieces. I first started carving them because I wanted to recreate the light flickering through the trees of Yosemite. When I first started creating them, I made rudimentary stencils of 4 of my favorite tree structures that I would scatter along the pot. Now, when I create a piece with this pattern, I don't use stencils. These trees are in my muscle memory and I enjoy letting the artist spirit move my hand.
This Woodland Luminary was made on the potters wheel, carved by hand, and glazed in this translucent green. Add a candle for stunning shadows!
